SHAH ALAM, July 22 — A woman was allegedly molested by an e-hailing driver while travelling to Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) Terminal 2 in Sepang last week.
Sepang police chief Assistant Commissioner Norhizam Bahaman said police received a report regarding the incident on July 16.
He said preliminary investigations found that the victim, who is in her 20s, had booked an e-hailing service to KLIA Terminal 2.
According to him, while en route, the suspect allegedly asked the victim to move to the front passenger seat before touching her without her consent.
“During the journey, the suspect allegedly asked the victim to sit in the front passenger seat before touching her right thigh twice without her consent,” he said in a statement, as reported by Harian Metro.
Norhizam said the victim exited the vehicle following the incident.
He said police have identified the suspect, a local man in his 40s, and recorded his statement to assist in the investigation.
He added that the case is being investigated under Section 354 of the Penal Code for using criminal force with intent to outrage modesty.
“The investigation has been completed and the investigation papers will be referred to the deputy public prosecutor for further instructions,” he said.
