KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 15 — Malaysia’s squash ace Sivasangari Subramaniam is one step away from glory at the Silicon Valley Open in California, the United States, after powering into the final today.
The world No.8 and third seed was in good form, sweeping aside Egypt’s seventh seed Salma Hany 3-0 in just 22 minutes in the semi-finals.
Sivasangari displayed her trademark precision and composure throughout the match by sealing the victory 11-3, 11-9, 11-5 to earn a well-deserved spot in the title decider.
Standing between her and the championship is top seed Olivia Weaver of the US, a familiar rival who has triumphed in seven of their eight previous encounters.
Earlier, Weaver advanced to the final after defeating England’s Georgina Kennedy 3-0 (11-5, 11-3, 11-4) in the other semi-final.
