SHAH ALAM, Oct 14 — Selangor will fund flood mitigation efforts with RM3.5 billion from the federal government and RM500 million from the state government, said Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari.
He said the funds are proof of the administration’s earnest effort in protecting the people’s property and ensuring their safety.
“Technical teams go to the field to evaluate flood causes and ensure delayed projects are completed.
“Critical areas like Klang, Shah Alam, Subang Jaya, Kuala Selangor, Kajang, Selayang and Sepang are among locations at risk of floods that have been visited,” he said in a Facebook post today.

Amirudin said flood mitigation projects would protect Selangor’s economy, with the state being the pulse of the nation’s industry and trade.
“Projects like building retention ponds, upgrading drainage systems and conserving rivers could improve urban resilience and lower disaster risks.
“Everything that is invested today is for the comfort of the future so Selangor becomes an advanced, safe and prosperous state, no matter the climate challenge,” Amirudin added.
