KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 14 – The Education Ministry (MOE) has established a special committee to ensure all aspects of the probe into the fatal stabbing at a school in Bandar Utama, Petaling Jaya, today are investigated thoroughly, transparently, and fairly.
Education Minister Fadhlina Sidek said the ministry will provide its full cooperation to the authorities in the ongoing investigation, following the arrest of a 14-year-old male suspect.
“The MOE extends its condolences to the family of the deceased student and prays that they are given strength and patience in facing this ordeal,” she said in a statement today, according to media reports.
She added that a team of counsellors and counselling teachers has been mobilised to provide psychosocial support to the school community.
Earlier today, Inspector-General of Police Datuk Seri Mohd Khalid Ismail confirmed the stabbing at the Petaling Jaya school and the arrest of a Form 2 student.
He said the attack occurred at 9.30am, and that the Form 4 female victim was pronounced dead at the scene.
“The motive for the incident is still under investigation, and the Selangor police chief will provide further details in due course,” Khalid said.
