SHAH ALAM, Oct 14 — Arts and music aren’t just forms of entertainment; they could catalyse creative economy development and youth entrepreneurship in Selangor, said state executive councillor for youth, sports and entrepreneurship Mohd Najwan Halimi.

“STEP2025 (Selangor Arts and Entrepreneurship Programme) isn’t just an arts event, but a strategic channel to showcase that arts and music could be catalysts for the creative economy, build young entrepreneurs’ competitiveness, and uplift Selangor as a model for youth talent and entrepreneurship,” he said in a statement yesterday.

The event will be held on October 25 at UiTM Shah Alam’s Seri Budiman Concert Hall, with over 10,000 attendees expected in the audience for talks by renowned artistes including Man Kidal, Dato’ Ramli MS, Edrie Hashim, and Qi Razali.

STEP2025 will also be a platform for youth to share knowledge, exhibit their works, and build networks in the arts and music industry.

Najwan highlighted the state government’s commitment to continue empowering young talent with various financial initiatives and support, so the Selangor arts scene grows sustainably and contributes to the state economy.

Last month, Najwan announced that the Selangor Creative Economy Action Plan 2025-2035, whose cores are multimedia, heritage, and cultural arts, will be launched in the November sitting of the Selangor State Legislative Assembly.
