KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 12 — The three-day Selangor International Care Summit (SICS), which concluded yesterday, witnessed the signing of memorandums of understanding (MOUs) worth RM1.85 million.

State executive councillor for women empowerment and welfare Anfaal Saari said the inaugural event, held in conjunction with the Selangor International Business Summit (SBIS) 2025, also registered RM2.25 million in potential investments through 179 business matching sessions.

“Among its notable achievements, SICS recorded a total of 4,055 participants, exceeding its initial target of 3,000. The Care Townhall session drew 578 attendees, while the Care Forum attracted 921 participants,” she told Media Selangor after officiating the closing ceremony of SICS 2025 at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre here yesterday.

Anfaal said the summit successfully advanced the care economy agenda, anchored on five key pillars — advocacy and public awareness, improving the quality of the care ecosystem, investment and financing models, technological innovation, and skills development and training.

“SICS featured four main components over two days, namely the Care Expo, Care Townhall, Business Matching, and Care Forum.

"It also focused on public education and awareness to shift the perception that care is not merely a personal issue but a shared social responsibility and a vital economic sector,” she said.

Anfaal added that the state government aims to continue organising SICS under the SIBS next year, with several enhancements based on participant feedback.

“It’s still too early to determine the exact additions, but the focus may include more targeted conventions, workshops, and training sessions tailored to the needs of the care industry.

“The state government will also establish the Selangor Care Network, an information platform and portal that will serve as a reference hub for all entities involved in the care sector,” she said.
