KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 10 — Temporary and phased traffic diversions will be carried out from October 23 onwards in several main areas, in conjunction with the 47th Asean Summit and Related Meetings at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre (KLCC) from October 26 to October 28.
Bukit Aman Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Department (JSPT) director Datuk Seri Mohd Yusri Hassan Basri said a motorcade rehearsal would be conducted from the Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) to hotels around the capital and to KLCC on October 23 and October 24.
"Temporary traffic diversions will be implemented along major highways and roads connecting KLIA to the capital and areas surrounding KLCC.
"In addition, JSPT personnel will be fully assigned from October 25 to October 28, with the implementation of phased road closures and diversions carried out within a one km radius of KLCC,” he said in a statement today.
The road diversions and traffic dispersal measures are necessary to ensure the smooth movement of delegates and the safety of all parties throughout the summit.
Yusri added that detailed information regarding affected routes, specific road diversions, and the full traffic diversion schedule will be announced soon.
"The public is advised to fully cooperate with the authorities and support the government's efforts to make the summit a success, thus elevating Malaysia's stature on the international stage,” he said.
