BUDI95: Govt to announce e-hailing drivers’ quotas on Oct 15

PUTRAJAYA, Oct 8 — Extra fuel allocations under BUDI Madani RON95 (BUDI95) for e-hailing and p-hailing drivers/riders will be determined based on their fuel consumption, Finance Minister II Datuk Seri Amir Hamzah Azizan said.

Speaking to the press after the launch of the Household Income and Expenditure Survey 2024 (HIES) report here today, he said details will be announced on October 15.

“We have assured that by mid-month, on October 15, e-hailing and p-hailing drivers will know their eligibility under BUDI95. Full-time drivers who consume more fuel will receive higher quotas,” he said.

Amir Hamzah, who is also carrying out the duties and functions of the economy minister, said the government has received partial data from e-hailing companies via the Land Public Transport Agency (APAD), and the information is being reviewed to ensure the subsidy is distributed accurately.

“I have not seen the full report submitted by APAD to the Finance Ministry (MOF) yet, but calculations can be made from APAD data — for example, if a driver covers 5,000km, we can calculate the additional quota they need.

“The important thing is that there is proof the fuel is actually being used. We don’t want to grant extra quota if it’s not genuinely used,” he said.

Under the targeted BUDI95 subsidy, over 16 million Malaysians enjoy the subsidised RON95 price of RM1.99 per litre, compared with RM2.60 per litre without the subsidy.

MOF announced on October 1 that e-hailing drivers do not need to apply individually, as the government will coordinate extra allocations with e-hailing operators.
