SHAH ALAM, Oct 7 — The state government is expecting the Selangor International Business Summit (SIBS) 2025 to generate more in transaction value than last year’s figure of RM13.86 billion.
However, state executive councillor for investment, trade and mobility Ng Sze Han said that a more modest figure of RM10 billion is the target, expected from deals signed throughout the four-day event.
“This target was made due to a couple of factors — that Malaysia is the host and chairman of Asean this year, and that Selangor, as the most industrialised state, is able to bring in delegations of business investors, exhibits from Asean nations as well as regional business partners,” he told Media Selangor.
“This is a golden opportunity for our small and medium enterprises to forge strategic ties and capture new markets in the region.”
Ng said he hopes that the event, which starts tomorrow until Saturday, will elevate Selangor’s position as the prime business hub of Asean, and help more local companies find a footing in the global marketplace.
In February, Ng had announced that SIBS 2025 would take place at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre and offer 700 booths for the perusal of local and foreign investors.
For this edition, some 50,000 people are expected to attend.
The annual meet, held since 2015, will feature two new events this year — The Selangor International Care Summit 2025 (SICS) and the Selangor Aerospace Summit (SAS) 2025, which has been rebranded from the previous Selangor Aviation Show.
Last year, SIBS held its inaugural duo-series format, with editions held in July and October. Together, they recorded a transaction value of RM13.86 billion.
The positive figure doubled that of what was recorded in 2023, which was RM6.12 bilion.
