KLANG, Oct 6 — Majlis Sukan Daerah (MSD) Petaling has emerged the overall winner of the 15th edition of Sukan Selangor (Sukses) 2025 after clinching 42 gold medals, 28 silver medals, and 21 bronzes.
Event host MSD Klang came in second with 21 gold, 26 silver and 26 bronze medals while rounding up the podium was MSD Sepang, who managed 14 gold medals, 16 silvers and 16 bronzes.
Making headlines at the event were MSD Kuala Selangor athlete Muhamad Daniel Haqiem Azman and MSD Petaling athlete Sasha Alyssa Philip, who were crowned the best male and female contender for Sukses 2025.
Muhamad Daniel dan Sasha each brought home a cash prize of RM1,000 and a trophy.
Sprinter Muhamad Daniel received two gold medals and broke the 200 and 400 metre record. He also won silver medals for the 4x400 metre mixed-team relay race and the 4x400 meter men’s relay category.
Sasha was just as impressive, winning three gold medals and breaking records in the javelin, shot put and discus throwing events.
Executive councillor for youth, sports and entrepreneurship Mohd Najwan Halimi presented all the winners with medals on the closing ceremony of the event, held at Dewan Hamzah in Klang Royal City’s town hall yesterday.
Sukses is a biennial competition that took place from September 17 to October 5. Some 2,300 athletes from the nine districts of the state took part.
Eleven types of sporting events were held — lawn bowling, taekwondo, sepak takraw, netball, rugby, pencak silat, track and field, basketball, volleyball, archery and ping pong. Some 401 medals were awarded throughout the competition.
