SHAH ALAM, Oct 3 — Petaling Jaya MP Lee Chean Chung has urged the state government to set up a long-awaited public hospital at the government buildings in Seksyen 52 under the city’s urban redevelopment plans.
Lee said while he welcomes plans to turn Sections 19, 51 and 51A into a hi-tech and semiconductor hub, the proposed relocation of several government offices and judicial institutions from Seksyen 52 presents an opportunity to address the healthcare needs of city residents.
“Former government buildings in Seksyen 52 offer clear advantages; (they aer) centrally located, surrounded by basic amenities, and are well connected to public transport.
“These factors make it the most suitable location for a government hospital that Petaling Jaya residents have long awaited,” he said in a statement yesterday.
The lawmaker said while hi-tech development would drive the city’s competitiveness in line with the Madani Government’s aspirations, basic healthcare must remain a priority.
“I will continue to push for this proposal to be given serious consideration by the government, and I will attend the Petaling Jaya City Council (MBPJ) briefing to raise this matter.”
Lee also urged residents to review the plan and submit feedback before October 27.
Petaling Jaya Mayor Mohamad Zahri Samingon recently announced that under the Draft Special Area Plan for Petaling Jaya, Sections 19, 51 and 51A would be developed to support the growth of semiconductor and other hi-tech sectors.
