Bukit Kajang toll crash: APAD revokes lorry company’s licence

KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 2 — The Land Public Transport Agency (APAD) has revoked the operating licence of a lorry company involved in the recent fatal accident at the Bukit Kajang Toll Plaza, effective today.

In a statement today, APAD said investigations found that the company had failed to install a Global Positioning System (GPS) device on the lorry involved and had neglected to prioritise the safety of other road users.

It added that the licence revocation was carried out in accordance with Section 62 of the Land Public Transport Act 2010.

“With the revocation of the operating licence, the company is prohibited from operating or providing any services using vehicles registered under the licence.

“APAD stresses that it will not compromise on cases involving dangerous driving of land public transport vehicles which could lead to accidents and endanger the safety of road users,” the agency said.

The agency also reminded all operators to adhere to stipulated conditions to prevent incidents that could lead to the revocation of their licences.

On September 27, the media reported that a lorry, believed to have experienced brake failure, crashed and caused a pileup of two SUVs and a car, which killed a one-year-old boy and left seven people injured.
