Malaysia secures export sales worth RM376.14m at Asean-China expo

KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 2 — The Malaysia Pavilion at the 22nd China-Asean Expo (CAEXPO) has recorded total sales of RM376.14 million, said the Malaysia External Trade Development Corporation (Matrade).

The Malaysia Pavilion, which comprised 70 exhibitors including eight ministries and agencies across various sectors, concluded successfully, underscoring the strong demand and growing opportunities for Malaysian products and services in the China-Asean market.

Matrade chief executive officer Datuk Seri Mohd Mustafa Abdul Aziz said the achievement reaffirms the competitiveness of Malaysia’s products and services, adding that Matrade remains committed to opening more doors for Malaysian businesses to thrive in China and the wider Asean region.

“Matrade’s participation in this prominent event reflects our unwavering commitment to supporting Malaysian companies in strengthening their foothold in Malaysia’s largest trading partner.

“This is especially in the growing second and third-tier cities such as Nanning, despite the ongoing challenges in global trade,” he said in a statement today.

Matrade said the pavilion showcased Malaysia’s diverse offerings, ranging from education, healthcare, pharmaceuticals, cosmetics and construction materials to high-value sectors such as technology and artificial intelligence.

It said Malaysia’s signature products like durian, white coffee, biscuits and bird’s nest continued to enjoy strong demand from importers attending the event.

The Malaysia Pavilion was officiated by Deputy Prime Minister and Energy Transition and Water Transformation Minister Datuk Seri Fadillah Yusof.

During the exhibition, over 30 memoranda of understanding (MOUs), memoranda of agreement (MOAs), joint ventures, and Letters of Intent were exchanged, many of which stemmed from the various business-to-business (B2B) initiatives organised by Matrade throughout the event.

“Malaysia was honoured with multiple recognitions for its role in the 22nd CAEXPO, securing awards for Special Supporter for Artificial Intelligence (AI) Cooperation, Best Organiser of Trade Visitors, and Best Organiser of Business Promotional Matching Activities.

“Three Malaysian brands received special recognition from the CAEXPO secretariat: The Smarter Solution Edge Sdn Bhd (Golden Award for Voice for Health – Recording Kit), Plantation and Commodities Ministry (Silver Award for Red Palm Oil), and Global Premium Resources Sdn Bhd (Best Popularity Award for Cookies and Chocolate),” it said.

Held from September 17 to 21 in Nanning, China, the 22nd CAEXPO has proven to be one of the most effective platforms for Malaysian exporters aiming to enter and expand their businesses in the Chinese market

As a premier gateway, it offers businesses the opportunity to showcase their strengths, build lasting partnerships, and position themselves strategically in one of the world’s fastest-growing economies.

“In light of these achievements, Matrade invites Malaysian exporters, particularly those looking to establish or strengthen their presence in China, to participate in the next edition of CAEXPO in September 2026,” added Matrade.
