Lenggeng pupil’s death: Fadhlina vows strict action if SOP not followed

KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 28 — Strict action will be taken in the event of standard operating procedure (SOP) non-compliance, following the death of a nine-year-old pupil who fell into a sewer pit at a school in Lenggeng, Negeri Sembilan, yesterday.

Education Minister Fadhlina Sidek said her ministry has launched an investigation into the incident, stressing that there will be no compromise when it comes to the safety and well-being of all members of education institutions.

She added that all school administrators, district education offices and state education departments must take responsibility to ensure facilities at educational institutions are safe and well maintained.

“The incident is very tragic, and schools must be the safest place for children,” she said in a Facebook post.

Abdul Fattah Khairol Rizal, nine, was reported to have died after falling into a sewer pit in the school compound early yesterday.
