SHAH ALAM, Sept 26 — Selangor is exploring potential collaboration with Wise Road Capital, a China-based global private equity firm managing over US$11 billion (RM46.43 billion) in assets, as the state seeks to enhance its position as a leading investment hub in the region.
Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari said the decision was made after a meeting with the company yesterday, which focused on high-tech sectors, including semiconductors, smart automotive, robotics, the Internet of Things (IoT), and sustainability.
“Our discussion touched on potential collaborations and investment opportunities in Selangor, especially in strengthening the high-tech ecosystem and semiconductor supply chain.
“With our strength as the Gateway to Asean, Selangor is ready to position itself as a prime destination for international investments,” he said in a Facebook post today.
Amirudin is confident that Wise Road Capital’s expertise and global experience can elevate Selangor’s role as an important player in the region’s high-tech industry.
The meeting took place after he attended a dinner with the Malaysian diaspora in Beijing, China.
Amirudin is currently on an official trade and investment mission to the country from September 23 to September 30.
The delegation was also joined by state executive councillor for investment, trade, and mobility Ng Sze Han, Menteri Besar Selangor (Incorporated) chief executive officer (CEO) Dato’ Saipolyazan M. Yusop, Yayasan MBI head Ahmad Azri Zainal Nor, Invest Selangor CEO Dato’ Hasan Azhari Idris, and Selangor Information Technology and Digital Economy Corporation CEO Yong Kai Ping.
