SHAH ALAM, Sept 26 — Selangor students currently pursuing education in China are urged to return home upon completing their studies to contribute to the state’s development.
Menteri Besar Dato' Seri Amirudin Shari said Selangor now requires a highly skilled workforce to drive its economic growth agenda by implementing the First Selangor Plan (RS-1) and RS-2, which will be announced soon.
"The state needs skilled talent to drive sustainable economic growth,” he said during a meeting with over 100 local students, embassy representatives, the business community, and strategic partners living in China last night.
Amirudin added that engaging with the Malaysian diaspora abroad has always been an important agenda during every official visit overseas, as it strengthens the spirit of national solidarity.
“As is my practice during every official visit, I take time to meet Malaysians, especially Selangor-born students. The presence of students, embassy officers, and industry partners strengthens the state’s strategic network in this region,” he said.
During the sharing session, Amirudin also emphasised Malaysia’s aspirations as it approaches its 100th year in 2057, and Selangor’s role as the nation’s growth engine.
Via RS-1 and RS-2, focus will be given on high-impact economic development, world-class infrastructure, a tech-friendly investment ecosystem, and strengthening local talent.
The Menteri Besar is currently on an official working visit to China from September 23 to September 30.
The delegation is also joined by state executive councillor for investment, trade, and mobility Ng Sze Han, Menteri Besar Selangor (Incorporated) chief executive officer (CEO) Dato’ Saipolyazan M. Yusop, Yayasan MBI chief Ahmad Azri Zainal Nor, Invest Selangor CEO Dato’ Hasan Azhari Idris, and Selangor Information Technology & Digital Economy Corporation CEO Yong Kai Ping.
