SHAH ALAM, Sept 14 — This year marks the 10th anniversary of the Selangor Literary Prize, first introduced by Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari when he was serving as the state executive councillor for culture in 2015.
At the glittering ceremony on Thursday (September 11), 36 winners in the short story, poetry, and essay categories for the years 2022, 2023, and 2024 took home prizes worth RM94,500.
The main winner received RM6,000, in addition to three consolation prizes of RM1,500 each for every genre in a given year. The judging process also involved works published by Dewan Bahasa dan Pustaka as well as Tukang Puisi.
Apart from the award presentations, nine translated literary books published under the Darul Ehsan Books Initiative (IBDE) were also launched at the lively event held at the Wydham Acmar Hotel in Klang.
Among the titles was the novel Minor Details by Adania Shibli, which recounts the atrocities of the Israeli army, including the rape and killing of a Palestinian woman.
