Nearly RM1b revenue on horizon for Selangor next year

KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 11 — Five initiatives by the Selangor government next year, including the improvement of existing projects, are set to generate a potential revenue of nearly RM1 billion.

State Secretary Dato’ Ahmad Fadzli Ahmad Tajuddin said this includes the Zero-Discharge Policy (ZDP) managed by the Selangor Water Management Authority (Luas), involving Indah Water Konsortium Sdn Bhd and Pengurusan Air Selangor Sdn Bhd, as well as water abstraction.

He added that the estimated potential revenue of over RM987 million would also be contributed by the Selangor Land and Mines Office (PTGS) through the office fee rechecks and targeted annual final accounts not exceeding RM500 million.

“This also covers the implementation of the utility passage charge rate of RM5 per metre for roads under the state Public Works Department’s administration and management under the Selangor Utility Corridor (Kusel),” he said at an engagement session for the 2026 Selangor State Budget here today.

Fadzli however said that two more initiatives slated for next year have been postponed to allow for comprehensive studies.

“It involves water management and quit rent amendments. This initiative is significant and must be managed the best we can. For land, we will perform checks in the future,” he added.

Earlier, when tabling the Selangor Economic Survey Report 2026 to Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari and state administrators, Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM) senior lecturer Muhammad Daaniyall Abd Rahman said Selangor’s gross domestic product (GDP) next year will remain positive between 5 and 5.8 per cent, with an estimated value of RM479 billion.

Daaniyall said the construction sector is set to be the biggest contributor with between 5.8 and 6.8 per cent growth, followed by the services sector at between 5.4 and 6.3 per cent.
