PUTRAJAYA, Sept 10 — Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has ordered a temporary suspension of all overseas trips by ministers and deputy ministers to ensure full focus is given to preparations for Budget 2026 and the 47th Asean Summit slated for next month.

Communications Minister and government spokesperson Datuk Fahmi Fadzil announced the directive following today’s Cabinet meeting, stating that it takes effect immediately.

However, exceptions will be made for pre-scheduled meetings or matters that have received special consideration from the Cabinet.

“This is to ensure all ministers prioritise ongoing programmes and preparations for Budget 2026, which will be tabled by the Prime Minister on October 10, just a few weeks away.

“It also concerns preparations for the upcoming Asean Summit at the end of October. The decision has been made and is effective immediately,” he told the press during a post-Cabinet press conference.

The 47th Asean Summit, scheduled to take place in Kuala Lumpur next month, is expected to host several world leaders, including United States President Donald Trump and Chinese Premier Li Qiang.
