SHAH ALAM, Sept 10 — Selangor has officially launched its Solid Waste and Public Cleansing Master Plan 2024-2033 today, setting out a long-term strategy to make waste management more structured, sustainable, and efficient.
Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari said the master plan reflects Selangor’s aspiration to remain a clean and liveable state.
“Through approaches such as the 5R (Refuse, Reduce, Reuse, Recycle, and Recover), the development of Level Four sanitary landfills, and the implementation of waste-to-energy projects, Selangor will continue to drive initiatives that not only protect the environment but also raise the quality of life,” he said in a Facebook post today.
Amirudin stressed that public awareness will be crucial to achieving the plan’s goals, particularly in educating communities on proper waste handling and separation at source.
Sustainability and efficiency have been the mainstay of the state administration since the launch of the First Selangor Plan (RS-1) in 2021.
The Second Selangor Plan (RS-2), expected to be tabled in June next year, will chart the state’s next phase of growth to ensure Selangor remains the nation’s main economic contributor while building sustainable and liveable cities.
Also present at the launch today were state executive councillor for local government and tourism Dato’ Ng Suee Lim and Selangor State Secretary Dato’ Ahmad Fadzli Ahmad Tajuddin.
