SHAH ALAM, Sept 5 — A total of 15 victims from five families are currently at the Temporary Evacuation Centre (PPS) at SK Sungai Serai as of 10.30am today.
The Selangor State Disaster Management Unit said they were evacuated after their homes were hit by floods yesterday, and that conditions at the PPS are under control with monitoring by security forces and relevant agencies.
Among those involved are the police, the Civil Defence Force, the People’s Volunteer Corps (Rela), the Social Welfare Department, the Village Development and Security Committee (JKKK), as well as the Hulu Langat District Health Office (PKD).
To safeguard the victims’ welfare, the Hulu Langat District PKD is also conducting health screenings to ensure their well-being throughout their stay at the PPS.
Affected residents have also been advised to move immediately to the nearest PPS if water levels rise, in order to avoid any safety risks.
Yesterday, social media posts showed several riverside houses in Hulu Langat inundated with muddy water up to knee level after heavy rain, with residents preparing to move valuable belongings.
Meanwhile, a viral video captured the sound of an emergency siren indicating that the river water level had exceeded the danger mark, warning residents to be extra cautious.
