KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 30 — The Housing and Local Government Ministry (KPKT) has allocated nearly RM60 million to the Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL) under the Sentuhan Kasih KPKT 3.0 programme.
Its minister Nga Kor Ming said the allocation involved 114 infrastructure development projects, as well as three specific development programmes and studies for the year.
“I have informed Mayor Datuk Seri Maimunah Mohd Sharif of the project to ensure it is carried out swiftly and fully completed this year,” he said during a press conference after visiting the Bandar Tasik Selatan low-cost flats today.
Also present were Bandar Tun Razak MP Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail and Maimunah.
Nga added that the project covered eight allocations under the supervision of agencies and departments within the KPKT, encompassing urban development initiatives.
“A total of RM27.8 million under the National Housing Department has been allocated for 38 projects, including the Housing Maintenance Programme (PPP), the Malaysian Housing Maintenance Fund (TPPM), and the Stratified Affordable Housing Maintenance Programme for lift improvements.
“Additionally, RM16.9 million has been allocated under the National Landscape Department for the upgrading of Bukit Kiara Federal Park Phase 2 and Taman Poket P. Ramlee, Jalan Pinang, Kuala Lumpur,” he said.
Nga also announced a RM6.8 million allocation to construct bus stops and covered walkways around the Klang Valley, as well as for physical development projects in Indian villages.
RM4.6 million has been allocated to implement the Malaysian Fire and Rescue Department (JBPM) development project in Kuala Lumpur.
“The JBPM development project comprises the Manjalara Fire and Rescue Station in Desa Petaling, the JBPM quarters in Cheras, and a Compact Fire Rescue Tender (CFRT) unit,” he said.
Meanwhile, RM1.5 million had been allocated for the maintenance of 10 non-Muslim houses of worship, while RM1 million was allocated to the Town and Country Planning Department (PLANMalaysia) to study urban planning methods.
“An allocation of RM666,000 is for the Urban Community Economic Empowerment (PEKB) programme to assist single mothers and the B40 group, while another RM600,000 has been set aside for the New Village Development project in the Federal Territory” Nga said.
The Sentuhan Kasih KPKT 3.0 programme began with a visit to Cheras Baptist Church, followed by an inspection of the toilet, bus stop, and pedestrian walkway upgrade project at Taman Tasik Permaisuri.
The programme then continued with a visit to the Sustainable Business Project at Tapak Anjung Selera Madani in Bandar Tun Razak, before concluding at the Bandar Tasik Selatan Low-Cost Flats.
