KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 21 — An injury-time goal by Buriram United’s Peter Zulj dashed Selangor FC's dream of stealing three points when they drew 1-1 in Group A of the Asean Club Championship at Chang Arena in Isan, Thailand yesterday.
In the action, Selangor managed to open the score through their import player Chrigor Moraes in the 38th minute.
Shocked by the goal, Buriram United tried to recover by launching several attacks on the Selangor defence but failed to produce any goals, thus seeing the Red Giants lead the first half 1-0.
Entering the second half, Buriram continued to adopt an attacking style of play in search of an equaliser but were denied by Selangor’s defence.
Selangor goalkeeper Kalamullah Al-Hafiz performed brilliantly when he managed to save Buriram United's dangerous attempts.
When victory seemed to be in Selangor FC's favour, Zulj became the home team's hero when he headed in the equaliser in injury time (90+6).
Selangor will next meet Singapore's Tampines Rovers for the second Group A match on September 24 at Petaling Jaya City Council Stadium.
