MB: Speed Selangor Policy to encompass public service aspects

PETALING JAYA, Aug 14 — The Speed Selangor Policy, to be launched next month, will not only focus on business facilitation, but will also be expanded to cover services directly related to the public.

Menteri Besar Dato' Seri Amirudin Shari said that initially, the focus will be on expediting the approval process for business and investment matters before being gradually extended to other services.

“For Speed Selangor, we should not only focus on business facilitation. In 2026, we will also concentrate on several matters that are directly related to the public or to public services,” he during at a press conference after officiating the launch of the Selangor Multi-Cloud (SMC) service today.

Amirudin added that fast, efficient, and accurate data management via SMC, which ensures there are no gaps between departments or agencies, will also complement the policy's implementation.

“This includes public complaints related to solid waste collection, home renovations, or potholes. We already have these in place, but previously they were scattered because some roads are managed by the local authority, some by the state government, and others by the Federal government, effectively without a designated owner.

“So, if this is managed with comprehensive data, regardless of who is responsible, it will still reach the relevant party — provided there is a willingness to communicate.

“These are among the things we will explore to ensure the Speed Selangor Policy is not only about business facilitation, but will also be developed to address matters that directly impact the public," he said.

During the 2025 Selangor Budget's tabling in November last year, Amirudin introduced the Speed Selangor Policy to shorten the approval period for industrial planning permission from 3.5 months to 14 days.

He said the policy aligns with the state government’s agenda as a business facilitator, while also focusing on attracting new industries to establish themselves in Selangor.
