AMPANG JAYA, July 27 — Organising community sports events by Residents' Committees (RC) is among the most effective means of fostering unity and connecting with the local population, says Menteri Besar Dato' Seri Amirudin Shari.
He said such programmes help build a caring community while strengthening public trust in the government.
“The RCs receive various complaints, from rubbish collection, parking issues, potholes, and stray dogs, to constructing new roads, which are then relayed to the local authorities.

“Through tournaments like these, we can forge closer ties and strengthen our connection with the community and local residents. Sports are the easiest and most effective way to build unity among the people.
“This process unites communities, the local authorities, and RC members, who all represent the front line of both the state and Federal governments. It is this sense of concern and engagement that shapes the future and public perception,” Amirudin said.
He was speaking at the opening ceremony of the Ampang Jaya Municipal Council's (MPAJ) RC Sports Tournament at The Campus today.
Also present were Bukit Antarabangsa state assemblyman Mohd Kamri Kamaruddin, Hulu Kelang state constituency coordinator Juwairiya Zulkifli, and MPAJ Deputy President Hasrolnizam Shaari.
On his part, Hasrolnizam said that this 15th edition of the tournament features two new sports: pickleball and e-sports.
“This year’s tournament includes 12 events, with the addition of two trending sports — pickleball and e-sports.
“We thank all parties for their cooperation, and we aim to conclude the tournament by August 10,” he said.
