SUBANG JAYA, July 20 — The Selangor government does not only focus on economic achievements, but is also committed to providing equal opportunities in welfare, education, and entrepreneurship for all its people.
Menteri Besar Dato' Seri Amirudin Shari said everyone, regardless of political affiliation, must be ensured access to the various benefits offered by the state for a more comfortable and prosperous life.
“The state government does not solely look at economic performance but wants all citizens to have equal opportunities and rights.
"We hope to continue supporting the needs and aspirations of the people. We want to make this state inclusive for everyone, be it Malays, Chinese or Indians.
“This is a place for everyone to earn a living, regardless of where they come from. We offer fair opportunities and protect the welfare of those in need,” he said.
Amirudin said this after attending the Bling-Bling Carnival organised by Seri Kembangan assemblywoman Wong Siew Ki, which brought together over 60 traders at The Mines here today.
Earlier this month, the Statistics Department (DOSM) revealed in its latest report that Selangor remains a stronghold as the country’s main industrial and services hub, recording a 6.3 per cent gross domestic product (GDP) growth last year.
According to the report, the state registered a GDP of RM432.1 billion in 2024, contributing 26.2 per cent to the national economy.
DOSM also reported that the national economy grew by 5.1 per cent last year, up from 3.5 per cent in the previous year, with a value-added total of RM1.65 trillion.
Meanwhile, Amirudin said the Bling-Bling Carnival is a platform to help local entrepreneurs introduce their products to the masses, while promoting the Seri Kembangan's unique offerings.
"I believe that it is one of your goals to be able to showcase your creativity. I hope this carnival can help community development and improve the people's economy.
“The state administration is indeed looking for the unique strengths of each area, as not all localities have the same advantages,” he said in his speech earlier at the carnival.
Wong said the inaugural carnival, which takes place yesterday and today, also features exhibitions, performances, and competitions related to Seri Kembangan.
She added that the carnival is also part of her efforts to help promote Visit Selangor Year 2025.
