KUALA LANGAT, June 30 — Kuala Langat residents have been urged to promptly report any individuals illegally dumping rubbish to the authorities.

KDEB Waste Management's (KDEBWM) managing director Dato' Ramli Mohd Tahir made the call after the company found that the district is frequently targeted for illegal waste disposal by irresponsible parties.

“KDEBWM and the Kuala Langat Municipal Council (MPKL) have made numerous attempts to curb this through enforcement… yet rubbish continues to be dumped with no regard for how severely privately-owned land is being turned into mini landfill sites.

“This is quite a significant challenge for us and MPKL to resolve, as it involves large-scale dumping with areas as vast as two to three acres being turned into illegal rubbish disposal sites,” he said.

Ramli was speaking at a press conference during the launch ceremony of KDEBWM’s Compactor Lorries and New Image at MPKL’s headquarters today.

He also urged members of the public with any information to report it immediately to the authorities so that further investigations can be carried out.

“I hope that those irresponsible individuals, if caught by the authorities, will be issued compounds and given appropriate punishment,” Ramli said.
