SHAH ALAM, June 27 — SME Corp Malaysia has initiated a strategic cooperation with the Selangor Human Resource Development Centre (SHRDC) to develop the businesses of high-potential small and medium entrepreneurs.
SME Corp said the effort involved the organisation of the Innovation Seminar, themed “Future Ready SMEs: The Power of Innovations”, with 70 SME owners from various sectors at Platinum Sentral, Kuala Lumpur, yesterday.
“The seminar aims to support local SMEs in practising innovation-driven strategies to increase productivity, competitiveness and preparation for global growth.
“It is also part of SME Corp’s agenda to transform local SMEs from small businesses to medium ones, and increase their market reach overseas,” it said in a statement.
SME Corp chief executive officer Rizal Nainy said the seminar aims to equip entrepreneurs with the knowledge and approaches to employ innovative strategies.
“By encouraging innovation among entrepreneurs, we hope to increase their contribution to national productivity and ensure sustainable growth amid an increasingly competitive global economic landscape,” he added.
SHRDC executive director Teh Sook Ling said his centre provides training for SME owners who are high-skilled, innovative, and able to support the transition to a digital economy.
Teh added that the next seminar will be held in July and August in Kuala Lumpur.
SME owners interested in joining the seminar can visit the SME Corp website for more information.
