Selangor Aero Park to mark major milestone with launch at Paris Air Show

SHAH ALAM, June 16 — Selangor is set to mark a major milestone in its aerospace industry progress, with the launch of the Selangor Aero Park (SAP) at the Paris Air Show.

Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari chaired the final preparatory meeting ahead of the event, starting today and ending June 22, which he said will feature the exchange of a letter of intent (LOI) between Menteri Besar Selangor (Incorporated), or MBI, and the National Aerospace Industry Corporation (Naico).

“The Paris Air Show will see an important development in Selangor’s aerospace industry when we see the special launch of the Selangor Aero Park and the exchange of an LOI between MBI and Naico.

“We were briefed on the programme flow by the Malaysia External Trade Development Corporation and the Malaysian Investment Development Authority, before holding further discussions with Naico and Malaysia Airports Holdings Bhd,” Amirudin said in a Facebook post.

“Eleven Malaysian companies will be participating in the Paris Air Show as exhibitors, with five of them hailing from Selangor,” he added.

On June 5, Transport Minister Anthony Loke reportedly said the development of the SAP will boost Malaysia’s efforts to become a leading air cargo hub in Southeast Asia.

The SAP is an aspiration under the Malaysia Aerospace Industry Blueprint 2030 to generate an annual income of RM55.2 billion in the sector.

Spanning about 600 acres in KLIA Aeropolis, the park has a potential gross development value of RM2.3 billion.
