BANGI, June 13 — Selangor will host an inaugural landmark tech summit in November to position the state as Southeast Asia’s go-to destination for hi-tech investment, Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari announced today.

In partnership with Hannover Fairs Asia Pacific, the regional arm of Germany’s Deutsche Messe, Amirudin said the Selangor Techsphere Summit will convene regional and global leaders in advanced manufacturing, artificial intelligence, robotics, and clean energy solutions.

Speaking at the event’s soft launch at Tenera Hotel here, he added that the summit will focus on innovation alongside meaningful collaboration among industry players.

“As much as the sharing and exchange of information online via modern tools such as artificial intelligence has changed how we learn and innovate, nothing beats the physical meeting of different- and like-minded experts in a single space, and that is what the Selangor Techsphere 2025 aims to do,” he said.

Amirudin added that the event aligns with Malaysia’s Asean chairmanship this year, adding further value to Selangor’s growing role in complex industries.

The summit will be held on November 11 and 12 at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre, and is set to attract high-level participation from Asia, Europe, the United States, and China.

Amirudin said the summit is in line with the state’s broader development vision under the First Selangor Plan, which aims to elevate Selangor’s economic value chain by focusing on complex industries for long-term growth.

He highlighted that the summit is distinct from the state’s premier business platform, the Selangor International Business Summit (SIBS), which focuses on drawing trade and investment.

This year, SIBS will be held from October 8 to 11 at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre.

“SIBS is about drawing investments and partnerships, while Techsphere is about showcasing the latest technological advancements.

“We plan to invite established technology players, from Siemens to major firms in the US and China, to demonstrate their innovations and participate in forums tackling real-world challenges, including AI,” he said.

When asked if Techsphere would become a regular fixture on Selangor’s event calendar, Amirudin said the state government will assess the summit’s impact before deciding whether to make it an annual or biennial affair.

Meanwhile, Hannover Fairs Asia Pacific managing director Tim Bostridge said the initiative is in tandem with global investment trends and will elevate Selangor’s economic position.

“Selangor’s rise is no accident… It is the result of deliberate strategy, tech-friendly infrastructure, and a readiness to lead in high-value, next-gen manufacturing.

“For global companies seeking a future-proof industrial base, Selangor offers the full package, digital infrastructure, clean energy, and a world-class talent pool,” Bodstrige added.
