KLANG, May 19 — Selangor’s youths have been called upon to master the latest in technology and artificial intelligence (AI) and to prepare themselves with strategic skills to help in nation building.
Menteri Besar Dato’ Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari, who made the call yesterday, said the ability of youths to adapt to changes — in particular, to the fast-paced world of technology — is vital to the country’s long-term prosperity and stability.
“As the world progresses at lightning speed, we have the power to use technology to sow goodness among people, to champion for peace and to promote human values.
“For certain it is the youths who will be the nation’s hope for the future; they will be our guarantee for a well-balanced and rational leadership,” Amirudin said in a speech read out by state executive councillor for public health and environment Jamaliah Jamaluddin during the Selangor Youth Day celebrations here last night.
With the theme ‘Yakin Boleh’ (For Certain We Can), the event was held across two days from Saturday at KSL Esplanade Mall and featured leadership and networking programmes, an e-sports competition, cultural shows, a legal clinic and exhibitions from various agencies.
The Malaysia Madani concept, said Amirudin, acts as a thinking person’s platform to cultivate humanistic values in building the nation’s youths.
“I am certain that the Madani government will continue to champion even bigger leadership programmes for young people, not just for those living in cities, but outside the cities,” he added.
During the event, Jamaliah was accompanied by the president of the Selangor Youth Council (MBS) Datuk Mohd Imran Tamrin and presented some awards to youths who have contributed to the success of the state, including athletes and para athletes.
