PORT DICKSON, May 11 — Sharing information via social media platforms such as TikTok has opened doors for young people, particularly Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) school leavers, to attend the “Jom Explore! Why Not YP?” programme organised by Yayasan Peneraju, in hopes of bringing a change for themselves.

Former student of Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan (SMK) Saujana Impian, Abang Aqil Abang Abdul Hallim, 18, said that attending an interview session with officers from the Economy Ministry gave him valuable exposure as he prepares to enter the workforce.

He said that he gained a lot of insight, especially about the flexible funding schemes offered by Yayasan Peneraju for SPM graduates to pursue further studies in professional, technology, and skills-based fields.

“I joined this programme after I found out about it on TikTok. I also learnt that Yayasan Peneraju offers a wide range of funding schemes, not just limited to accounting,” he told Media Selangor.

“Besides Peneraju Profesional, the foundation also offers funding schemes such as Peneraju Skil, which supports those looking to enhance vocational and technical skills with industry-recognised certifications.”

Meanwhile, Irdina Safiah Rusdi, 18, stated that her interest in accounting, which began during her school years, motivated her to continue her studies in the same field by applying for Yayasan Peneraju’s Professional Certification Financing Scheme.

“Alhamdulillah (Thank God), I got an A in accounting in my SPM results. Attending this programme is one of my efforts to pursue my passion and ambition of becoming a certified accountant,” she said.

“The support and encouragement from my parents, family, and friends have been my driving force to prepare thoroughly before attending the interview session at this programme.”

Muhammad Nur Syafi Safie, 18, wants to switch from science to accounting to enhance his marketability to meet industry demands.

“Even though I’m from the science stream, I believe SPM graduates should be brave enough to explore new fields to improve their employability,” he said.

“I want to challenge myself and prove that I can succeed in this field. With determination and support from my parents, nothing is impossible.”
