SHAH ALAM, May 3 — The Klang Royal City Council's (MBDK) Corporate Communications Department's Complaints Unit has received 160 neighbourhood-related complaints encompassing various categories of disturbances.
Klang Mayor Dato' Abdul Hamid Hussein said that most disputes among neighbours stem from a lack of consideration, dissatisfaction, and jealousy.
In response to this, MBDK has taken proactive steps by collaborating with the Department of National Unity and Peace Commissioners to establish a Community Mediation Centre at Plaza MPK to address neighbourhood issues.
“This centre aims to provide free mediation services to resolve community disputes, offer advisory services, and act as a mediator in settling disagreements.
“I urge the public to utilise this service; let us not wait until a dispute escalates before seeking a resolution. Mediation offers a space to listen, understand, and find common ground,” he said during the centre's launch yesterday.
Hamid believes that with the cooperation of the Klang Department of National Unity and Integration, the centre can serve as a non-legal platform to assist the community in resolving disputes and emerging conflicts at the grassroots level.
“I also believe the mediation approach can be a catalyst for the prudent and effective resolution of conflicts, thereby contributing to social stability and community harmony," he said.
