SHAH ALAM, May 1 — Selangor is targeting 30,000 visitors for the Selangor Mega Food Festival, held over four days starting today at Dataran Kemerdekaan.
Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari said the festival, featuring over 100 food stalls from across the state, is one of the state government’s initiatives to further energise the Visit Selangor Year (VSY) 2025 campaign.
“We are targeting 30,000 visitors, with 100 food stalls from all over Selangor throughout the festival.
“With the long weekend beginning today and lasting until Sunday (May 4), we hope to see a growing trend in visitor turnout,” he said after officiating the International Women’s Day Run at the same venue.
Amirudin added that the festival not only creates an atmosphere but also showcases the diversity of people’s lifestyles, which aligns with the spirit of community-based tourism.
It also allows small traders to promote their products while joining the Selangor Platform (PLATS), a business digitalisation initiative introduced by the state government.
The festival offers a variety of exciting and unique activities, including food demonstrations and evening cultural performances.
Following the Selangor Mega Food Festival, VSY2025 will continue with the Festival Kampung Baru in August, which aims to highlight the identity of new villages throughout the state.
VSY2025 features over 60 programmes and events, and its promotional focus is centred on several segments, including ecotourism, agrotourism, arts, and culture.
