SHAH ALAM, April 28 — The state government is targeting 3,500 participants, including international runners, for the Selangor Half Marathon 2025 (SHM2025) on June 14.

State executive councillor for youth, sports, and entrepreneurship Mohd Najwan Halimi said that so far, the inaugural event offering prize money exceeding RM30,000 has received 3,200 entries from 10 countries, including Japan, Hong Kong, Brunei, Australia, Singapore, and Indonesia.

"There will be a total of three categories, namely the five kilometre (KM) Fun Run, the 10 KM and 21 KM Half Marathon, as well as a special 10 KM Youth Run for those 13 to 17 years old.

"Participation is still open and interested members of the public can sign up until May 15 for a chance at competing for the prizes offered, including over 50 lucky draw prizes,” he said during the SHM2025 press conference at the State Secretariat Building today.

Najwan added that via the Youth, Sports, and Entrepreneurship Committee, the state government will issue announcements and circulars regarding the competition and road closures related to the event no later than two weeks before the race.

He said that SHM2025 is not just a run but also an important platform to promote a healthy lifestyle and to establish Shah Alam as a family-friendly sports tourism destination.
