KUALA LUMPUR, March 29 — Menteri Besar Dato' Seri Amirudin Shari took time to visit Fatimah Nuha Mustaza, a Selangor student who was involved in a road accident in Jordan earlier this month.

He was accompanied by his political secretary A Rahim Kasdi and Menteri Besar Selangor (Incorporated) or MBI Foundation chief Ahmad Azri Zainal.

Amirudin expressed the state government’s commitment to assisting Fatimah and hoped that the University of Mu'tah student would recover soon and resume her studies.

“The state government is ready to provide support from time to time. We hope she receives an academic exemption so she can fully recover.

"We are grateful that since the first day until now, her progress has been very positive,” he said, while also presenting contributions from MBI and his personal donation to Fatimah’s family.

Meanwhile, her father Mustaza Abdul Aziz, 51, said his daughter returned to Malaysia on Tuesday (March 25) after receiving treatment, including undergoing two surgeries in Jordan.

The student suffered fractures in her bones and joints across multiple parts of her body and required further treatment and therapy at the University Malaya Medical Centre.

“When we first received the news of Fatimah’s accident, we were informed that her condition was critical, with a 50-50 chance of survival. But, with everyone’s prayers, she has recovered and was able to return to Malaysia safely.

“We are also fortunate to have received assistance from the government through the Malaysian Embassy in Jordan, which was very attentive, and the state government, which has been supporting us since the beginning,” he said.

Mustaza added that their family would not be travelling back to their hometowns in Ipoh, Perak, and Sabak Bernam for Hari Raya Aidilfitri this year, due to Fatimah’s need for rest.

He said she hopes to return to Jordan in July to continue her Arabic Language and Literature studies.

“Fatimah was originally scheduled to return home for the holidays from July to October, but she wants to go back to Jordan and continue her studies so she can graduate alongside her classmates,” he said.

On March 7, four Malaysian students from the University of Mu'tah, Jordan, were involved in a road accident, sustaining injuries.

Fatimah was reported to have been seriously injured, while another Selangor student, Sumayya Azamuddin, suffered minor injuries. The other two victims were students from Johor.
