SHAH ALAM, March 22 — The Klang Royal City Council (MBDK) has intensified monitoring efforts by installing 507 closed-circuit television (CCTV) cameras in high-risk areas to prevent illegal waste dumping.
The Star reported Klang Mayor Datuk Abd Hamid Hussain as saying that the equipment serves as an effective strategy to deter suspicious activities and to ensure that those responsible face action.

“Outsiders are dumping tonnes of bulk waste along deserted roads, back alleys, and remote areas within MBDK’s jurisdiction. We need to take a firmer stance in addressing this issue,” he said.
Speaking at a fast-breaking event with MBDK staff this evening, Hamid added that construction debris, damaged furniture, and industrial waste are among the types of rubbish being illegally disposed of.
As such, he emphasised that it is time for the local authority to tackle the issue comprehensively, including apprehending those responsible.
“It is time to enhance CCTV usage to catch irresponsible individuals tarnishing Klang’s image,” Hamid said.
Last year, MBDK issued 393 fines under the By-Laws on Waste Collection, Disposal, and Management 4, amounting to RM223,750 in penalties.
In January and February this year, 62 fines were issued for illegal waste dumping, totalling RM14,200 in penalties.
