SHAH ALAM, March 22 — Kota Damansara state assemblyman Izuan Kasim has offered to stand as a candidate for Parti Keadilan Rakyat's Youth Wing deputy chief position for the 2025-2028 session.
His announcement comes after several senior party members, including vice-president Nurul Izzah Anwar, deputy president Datuk Seri Rafizi Ramli, and vice-president Chang Lih Kang, decided to defend their posts in the upcoming Keadilan elections on May 24.
"I seek the support and backing of my comrades to collectively drive Angkatan Muda Keadilan (AMK) towards the 16th general election (GE16)," Izuan said in a statement today.
The Selangor Keadilan Youth chief added that the party elections are not just about selecting leadership but will determine the future of AMK in facing GE16.
"AMK is not merely a party wing — it is the frontline of the struggle.
"With the Prime Minister coming from Keadilan, it is AMK's responsibility to ensure that the leadership of Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim remains strong and that Keadilan reclaims the seats that were lost," Izuan said.
Citing his past experiences, first as a Keadilan volunteer in 2011 while studying at university and later joining the party at the age of 23, he said he is determined to champion the rights of every Malaysian to justice and legal protection.
"Fighting for justice is not merely rhetoric but a principle I have steadfastly upheld since my university days.
"For 13 years, I have been on the ground in elections across Malaysia — general elections, state elections, and by-elections. As such, I understand the pulse of the grassroots and the real challenges in the field.
"Armed with this experience, I pledge to strengthen the party’s operational efforts to be more structured, prepared, and resilient for the upcoming elections," Izuan said.
Besides Izuan, other party members have made similar announcements, including vice-president cum Selangor Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari and vice-president cum Keadilan Setiawangsa branch chief Nik Nazmi Nik Ahmad in defending their posts.
Kota Anggerik state assemblyman Mohd Najwan Halimi has also said he will go up against Ampang MP Rodziah Ismail for the post of Keadilan Shah Alam division chief.
