SEPANG, March 18 — The Sultan of Selangor Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah Alhaj graciously officiated Masjid Desa Sentosa in Taman Desa Sentosa yesterday.

The arrival of His Royal Highness, accompanied by the Tengku Permaisuri of Selangor Tengku Permaisuri Norashikin, was warmly welcomed by Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari.

Masjid Desa Sentosa, built on a 3.47-acre plot of land in Dengkil, was completed in 2022 and can accommodate up to 2,300 worshippers at any one time.

Built for RM9.6 million, the Selangor Wakaf Corporation provided RM2 million in funding while the remaining RM7.6 million was contributed through public donations and endowments.

At the event, the Ruler also presented RM311,000 in Hari Raya Aidilfitri contributions to 622 underprivileged individuals from the Sepang district, comprising 220 from the fakir category, 327 from the poor category, and 75 mualafs.

The contribution was presented in conjunction with the Ihya' Ramadan programme of the Sultan of Selangor with the people, as well as the distribution of Aidilfitri 1446H aid for the Sepang district.

Sultan Sharafuddin also graciously joined in fast-breaking, performing the Maghrib and Isyak prayers, as well as the congregational Tarawih prayers at the mosque with the public.
