SHAH ALAM, Feb 26 — Selangor will sign a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with Khazanah Nasional Bhd and Malaysia Airports Holdings Bhd (MAHB) to develop the Selangor Aero Park.
Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari said the deal, set to be signed next month, aims to develop the aerospace sector and drive economic growth.
“We have reached an agreement after a series of discussions with Khazanah and MAHB. In March, we will sign an MOU and this deal will be complete, with a groundbreaking programme set for June.
“Our aim is to join the Paris Air Show in June, where all industry players will be based,” he said when winding up the debate on the Royal Address during the Selangor State Legislative Assembly sitting here today.
Earlier, Amirudin said the state government was optimistic the Smart Selangor Technical Skills and Expertise Initiative, or Iktisass, would develop skilled labour for the aviation sector.
He said Selangor was ready to become a pioneering labour provider for the sector, including in the fields of aircraft handling and engineering.
Meanwhile, Amirudin said a white paper on artificial intelligence will be tabled to ensure data security and privacy.
“I expect the white paper to be tabled at the second sitting, or at the very least, during the budget session, to be refined and debated by assemblymen.
“Google has offered its services to create a Sovereign Data Server so the state government’s data will be owned and hosted in Selangor on a local server, without the need to use Google’s Cloud Serve.
“This will ensure data security and user privacy, taking note of the issue of scams causing anxiety among online users,” he said.
