By Sheeda Fathil

SHAH ALAM, Feb 12 — The Selgate Specialist Hospital Rawang, owned by the Selangor State Development Corporation (PKNS), is set to begin operations by mid-year.

Rawang state assemblyman Chua Wei Kiat said the 224-bed medical facility will benefit local residents and help ease congestion at government hospitals.

“The construction of phases one and two involved a total expenditure of RM270 million, with the hospital providing 325 beds in total.

“We believe that once it becomes operational, it will help alleviate overcrowding at government hospitals,” he told Media Selangor.

Previously, state executive councillor for public health Jamaliah Jamaluddin said the hospital’s completion, initially slated for 2019, was delayed due to labour shortages and the Covid-19 pandemic.
