KUALA LANGAT, Feb 8 — The state government expresses its gratitude for the Sultan of Selangor Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah Alhaj's decree, which affirmed that there is no need to establish guidelines for Muslims attending non-Muslim celebrations.

Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari said that Selangor has long embraced diversity as a fundamental pillar of a dignified society that remains confident in its own beliefs and values.

“This is not merely about tolerance between one another. In Selangor, we uphold strong unity and mutual understanding, regardless of religion or race.

“This is the foundation that has enabled us to achieve the economic performance recorded last year,” he said in his speech during the state-level Chinese New Year celebration in Jenjarom tonight.

The event, held at Fo Guang Shan Dong Zen Temple in Jenjarom, was graced by the presence of His Royal Highness and the Tengku Permaisuri of Selangor Tengku Permaisuri Hajah Norashikin.

Earlier today, the Ruler expressed disagreement with the proposal to establish guidelines for Muslims attending non-Muslim religious celebrations.

In a statement today, the Selangor royal palace Istana Alam Shah said His Royal Highness believes the proposal was made at an inappropriate time when the people are actively fostering goodwill for national unity.

Meanwhile, Amirudin said that Selangor is prepared to collaborate with the Federal government to ensure that state-based companies are well-prepared to face the evolving global landscape.

He said the new administration in the United States has raised concerns among developing nations, particularly regarding tariff policies that could impact manufacturing companies.

“That is why we must look towards other markets. Asean, along with China and India, has a combined population of nearly three billion, providing a ready market for Selangor-based companies,” Amirudin said.

He also announced that the state government has identified a new site and approved the application for the construction of a new Pin Hwa Chinese Independent High School in Kota Kemuning.

Beyond Chinese schools, the government has also approved a new site for a Sekolah Agama Rakyat (SAR) requested by the Federal government in Gombak.

“The State Executive Council has identified and approved a new site for the establishment of the Pin Hwa Chinese Independent High School in Kota Kemuning, as well as the new site for the SAR requested by the Federal government in Gombak,” Amirudin said.
