SHAH ALAM, Jan 26 — The organisation of the 2025 Selangor Cultural Village Carnival programme has the potential to provide new insights into the cultural background of the community, said Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari.

He said that knowledge of racial identities can further enhance understanding, thus ensuring the continuity of success.

“The organisation of this programme is not merely to fill the calendar or coincide with school holidays but to provide clarity about who we are and how we want to continue achieving success.

“It can also serve as a strong bond for us to build confidence and open ourselves up while embracing all the positive values of culture,” he said during the carnival's launch yesterday evening.

The programme at Dataran Kemerdekaan was also attended by the state executive councillor for housing and culture Datuk Borhan Aman Shah, along with members of the state government's administration.

Amirudin added that the state government aims to organise the Selangor Arts and Cultural Festival (SACF) 2025, which will encompass various cultural festivals to further strengthen the arts and heritage the state.

Moreover, SACF will add economic value for local artists and cultural practitioners, while also supporting tourism activities in conjunction with the Visit Selangor Year 2025 tourism campaign.

“SACF 2025 will feature the Selangor State Arts, Culture, and Heritage Festival, Heritage Food Festival, the Rhythm Festival, and the Wau Kapal Festival, to celebrate the cultural diversity in Selangor,” he said.

“SACF 2025 akan menampilkan Temasya Seni Budaya dan Warisan Negeri Selangor, Festival Makanan Warisan, Pesta Rentak dan Festival Wau Kapal bagi meraikan kepelbagaian budaya di Selangor,” katanya.

The Selangor Cultural Village Carnival, which began on Thursday (January 23) and runs until today, features various activities, including cultural performances, handicraft sales, and food stalls at Pasar Saloma.

This inaugural carnival is also enlivened by traditional games competitions including spinning tops (gasing pangkah), rubber rope games (tali getah), giant draughts (dam gergasi), traditional board games like congkak, batu seremban, and slingshots.
