SHAH ALAM, Jan 15 — The Selangor Water Management Authority (Luas) has completed its efforts to remove the pink-coloured water flow first detected in Sungai Kabul yesterday.
It said a follow-up inspection around the Mahkota Industrial Area in Beranang was conducted today, which uncovered a suspected unauthorised bypass pipe.
"Pink-coloured water was observed flowing from the pipe into a man-made channel and subsequently into Sungai Kabul," Luas said in a Facebook post today.
It coordinated with the Kajang Municipal Council to immediately shut off the pipe, whose source has yet to be identified, to minimise risks to Sungai Kabul, Sungai Beranang, and Sungai Semenyih.

"We have also enhanced monitoring activities at relevant locations upstream of Sg. Kabul.
"The current conditions of Sungai Beranang and Sungai Semenyih are under control, and Luas, along with other involved agencies, is actively conducting thorough inspections and monitoring at the site," Luas said.
After the pink-coloured water flow was discovered, concerns were raised that the pollution, which stretched for 500 meters, could impact the Sungai Semenyih Water Treatment Plant, located 16.3 km away.
Pengurusan Air Selangor Sdn Bhd later confirmed that there were no disruptions to the water supply due to the incident.
