SHAH ALAM, Jan 11 — Selangor has allocated RM50 million for the Mega Road Resurfacing Project, which is scheduled to commence in April, said the state executive councillor for infrastructure and agriculture Dato' Izham Hashim.

Utilising the Jetpatcher machinery, the project will not only focus on roads managed by the local authorities, but also those under district offices, agricultural areas, and the state Public Works Department.

“Previously, we only focused on roads under the local authorities, but this year all roads, including those in rural areas, will be resurfaced if necessary.

“We have instructed all agencies to identify severely damaged roads that require immediate resurfacing, as well as areas that frequently receive complaints,” he told Media Selangor yesterday.

Izham added that road resurfacing using the Jetpatcher, a high-tech machine from the United Kingdom, accelerates the resurfacing process by three times.

“Typically, road resurfacing takes more than an hour, but with this RM2 million machine, the process is completed in less than 30 minutes.

“Moreover, the quality is stronger and better, as the new surfacing adheres more effectively to the old road due to the hotter patching material,” he said.

During the presentation of the 2025 Selangor Budget on November 15 last year, Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari announced a RM50 million allocation for the Mega Road Resurfacing Project, which is managed by Infrasel Sdn Bhd as the state road maintenance company.

He said that the project is being continued as the state government remains attentive to public complaints and reports regarding road damage, which poses risks to safety and user comfort.
