SABAK BERNAM, Aug 21 — The Selangor Mega Road Resurfacing Project 2.0 is set to begin in September and will focus on roads with severe damage, said state executive councillor for infrastructure and agriculture Izham Hashim.

He said before starting resurfacing works, the state’s maintenance company, Infrasel Sdn Bhd, is assessing the most critical routes requiring maintenance.

“We have received numerous requests for road resurfacing, but this time, we will prioritise based on urgency, unlike in previous years when the selection was based on district and local authority.

“Once identified, the mega road resurfacing work will commence this September, with priority based on established criteria,” he told the press after the inspection of repair works on Jalan Bagan Pasir in Tanjong Karang here yesterday.

Meanwhile, Izham said the state government will use new hi-tech machinery from the United Kingdom to patch the roads.

“The method will differ slightly from the current one, and patching can be completed more quickly.

“The use of the machinery will be announced at a launch next month,” he added.

Last year, the Selangor government spent RM50 million on a large-scale road resurfacing project covering maintenance and road widening.

Covering a distance of 94.9km, maintenance works involve 66 roads in Petaling, followed by Klang (39), Gombak (29), Hulu Langat (27), Sepang (19), Sabak Bernam (17), Kuala Langat (16), Kuala Selangor (11), and Hulu Selangor (8).

Roads for repair were selected based on the highest number of complaints from the public, reported via X or the Infrasel app.

Over 39,000 road resurfacing projects were completed by Infrasel between 2021 and last year.
