KLANG, Jan 4 — More than 300 individuals participated in the third phase of the 'Cintai Sungai Klang' gotong-royong programme organised by the Klang Royal City Council (MBDK) at Kampung Sungai Udang today.
Klang Mayor Datuk Abd Hamid Hussain said the participants included local community members, associations, and government agencies.
“MBDK places great importance on Sungai Klang, as it is crucial for water supply, the fishing community, and the tourism sector.

“The first and second phases of this programme have raised awareness among residents, and we have observed that their areas are now cleaner compared to before,” he said after officiating the event at the Kampung Sungai Udang Fishermen’s Jetty.
Hamid also announced that the fourth phase of the programme is scheduled to take place later this year.
“Sungai Klang in this district spans a length of 21 kilometres. With the implementation of the fourth phase, we hope to clean the river's entire shoreline,” he said.
Earlier, the programme, running from 7am to 11am, included activities like riverbank cleaning, tree planting, and environmental awareness campaigns.
The gotong-royong initiative was divided into four locations: around the Kampung Sungai Udang Fishermen’s Jetty, Masjid Darul Muttaqin, SK Sungai Udang, and Madrasah Tahfiz Al-Quran Ar-Rasyid.
