KUALA SELANGOR, Jan 4 — Over 2,000 residents participated in the lively Madani Youth Tour Carnival at Pantai Remis today, which featured a variety of engaging activities.

State executive councillor for youth, sports, and entrepreneurship Mohd Najwan Halimi said the third instalment of the series consists of activities catering to all layers of society, including community service initiatives.

“This time, we organised a beach clean-up at Pantai Remis, which saw the participation of around 300 volunteers from the local community.

“The programme also includes relaxed activities suited to the area’s demographics, and participants can enjoy the beautiful scenery of the beach,” he said at the event.

Earlier, Najwan officiated the Kuala Selangor leg of the Madani Youth Tour Carnival, which was also attended by the Selangor Sports Council executive director Mohamad Nizam Marjugi.

He added that the carnival will continue to six more districts this year, with more exciting and comprehensive content planned.

One of the upcoming initiatives is the development of e-sports programmes involving youths at the secondary school level.

“This year, we will focus on e-sports development, in line with the aspirations of the Menteri Besar to expand the e-sports sector,” Najwan said.

During the tabling of the 2025 Selangor Budget on November 15, Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari announced that the state government will repurpose the Carlton Hotel in Shah Alam into an e-sports hub via a RM1 million allocation.

This initiative aims to position Selangor as a host for Asean and international e-sports competitions.
