AMPANG JAYA, Jan 2 — The developer responsible for the retention bund adjacent to Taman Seri Alam, Saujana Utama, which collapsed on Sunday (December 29), has agreed to pay ex-gratia compensation to affected residents.
State executive councillor for infrastructure and agriculture Dato’ Izham Hashim said a meeting between the developer and the residents will be held today to determine appropriate compensation amounts.

"The Paya Jaras state constituency coordinator will assist the residents in managing this matter. The state government will also provide financial aid through Menteri Besar Selangor (Incorporated) or MBI," he told the press after inaugurating the Ehsan Mart outlet in Pandan Utama today.
Izham added that compensation would vary depending on the losses incurred by each household.
"The developer has committed to making payments, but the amounts will not be uniform. A survey will be conducted by the constituency coordinator to assess the extent of the damages,” he said.
Meanwhile, efforts to reconstruct the retention bund are currently focused on stabilising its embankments to prevent a similar incident.
For the medium-term, Izham said the state plans to construct retaining walls, while long-term solutions include a comprehensive drainage system that is currently under review by the state government.
On Sunday, the wall of the retention bund near Taman Seri Alam, Saujana Utama in Sungai Buloh gave way, flooding the entire residential area.
It was reported that this was the second such incident since 2015.
