SHAH ALAM, Dec 28 — The state government will allocate over RM3 million to support the Selangor Turath Islami Festival and Islamic arts programmes across Selangor in the coming year.
Menteri Besar Dato' Seri Amirudin Shari said the ongoing festival is part of its efforts to promote Islam and nurture the spiritual well-being of the people.
“We aim to develop our nation and state, not just through grand buildings and luxury, but also by fostering the growth of individuals. One way to achieve this is by touching hearts and strengthening faith, along with love for the Prophet Muhammad SAW.
“Events like this, which feature recitations of selawat, zikir, and educational programmes focused on Islamic heritage, are crucial in helping to nurture the faith and spirit of the people,” he said.
Amirudin was speaking at the opening of the Festival Darul Ehsan Berselawat 2024 at Setia City Park Oval Lawn yesterday evening.
Before this, the state government organised the second Selangor Turath Islami Festival from May 26 to June 2, featuring 11 events, including the Daurah Hadis 40 programme, the Al Wahyu: The Islamic Knowledge Tradition of the Malay World exhibition, lectures, Munaqasah academic discussions and selawat programmes, with the participation of 23 Islamic scholars and intellectuals from both local and international backgrounds.
The Festival Darul Ehsan Berselawat 2024, a three-day event dedicated to supplication, zikir and selawat, kicked off yesterday and ran until midnight, with free entry for all attendees.
Among the distinguished speakers at the event are Indonesian religious scholar Habib Luthfi Ali Yahya, along with Habib Nael Ben Taher and Habib Najmuddin Al-Khered.
